Ground Lamb & Hummus Sliders

Sliders, small burger bites, are terrific appetizers or serve 3 with different toppings for a unique twist on a burger meal.  Bread crumbs and egg are not needed, the secret is just spices, no chunky bits in the mixture that might cause the cooked meat to fall apart.

Ingredients List:

1 lb (500g) SUNGOLD ground lamb
½ tsp (2ml) celery salt
½ tsp (2ml) garlic powder (if using garlic salt, omit the celery salt)
1 tsp (5ml) chilli powder
1 tsp (5ml) ground cumin
¼ tsp (2ml) hot pepper sauce

Garnishes as desired, or:

1 cup (250ml) prepared hummus, any flavour
Leafy lettuce
Chopped red onion
Hot pickled peppers
Crumbled feta cheese

Preparation & Directions:

  • In a mixing bowl lightly combine ground lamb and spices
  • Form into 10 small patties about 2in (10cm) diameter
  • OR into 4 larger patties
  • Place on a rack over a baking sheet
  • Broil for 5 min without turning, or for larger patties, 4 min per side, turning once
  • Larger patties are suitable for the BBQ, not recommended for sliders


To serve:

  • Toast small slider buns, spread with hummus and top with garnishes.
